Description: Vintage set by artisan George Becker. It includes and ornate open writing desk in dark wood, with a matching upholstered "Tree of Life" design chair. Both are signed and the desk is numbered #226. They are new in their original boxes, and include a matching number 226 Certificate of Authenticity. These pieces also had a small Made in Taiwan sticker. I am not sure what the story is with that, but I suspect they were designed by George and finished by him, but the base furniture ultimately may have been produced elsewhere much like that of Sonia Messer. It is indeed a nice set. This item is part of a collection recently acquired from the estate of a well-known New York miniature store owner. Her shop closed in 2015 and items have been in storage for at least 10 years. Most items are new old stock, unless otherwise noted. The store was in operation for 40 years, and as such, there are many vintage and hard to find treasures that we now hold in our inventory.
