San Diego, California sculptor and artist Michael Dayon was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1939, and studied at the Art Students’ League in New York City; University of New Mexico and San Diego, California. He started painting at age 26 and then diverted into sculpture, sold a few hundred works in alabaster, wood and marble. “Fritz the Pearman” series (Fritz is Dayon’s “struggling artist” alter ego). According to Dayon, the alter ego of Fritz the Pear Man was his way of inserting a little humor into his career as an artist. The painter says Fritz was somewhat influenced by the German-Americans he met while living in Wisconsin as a young man. You can find his "Pear" and "Fitz" themed paintings in my shop.
