Description: Armour Collection 5052 T-45 Goshawk Diecast Model US Navy 2787 1:100 Scale Length Width T-45 Goshawk. 4.5" 3.75" The T-45 Goshawk is a tandem-seat jet trainer used by the US Navy and Marine Corps pilots for carrier capable training. The T-45 Goshawk replaced the T-2C Buckeye and the TA-4J Skyhawk with an integrated training system that included the aircraft, high-fidelity instrument and flight simulators, and logistics support. First delivered in 1997, the T-45C had reinforced airframe and a more robust landing gear to handle the stresses of catapult take off and carrier landings. Later versions also have enhanced avionics systems, which included the adoption of a glass cockpit and head-up display (HUD) which made it more similar to the Navy's advanced jet fighters. The "Eagles" of Training Squadron SEVEN (VT-7) have the mission of safely and effectively training Naval Aviators and preparing them for service and success in the Fleet. Student Naval Aviators train for approximately twelve months in the fundamentals of strike aviation. Initial flights and simulators are devoted to Instrument Flight Rules, culminating in an instrument rating. In the Familiarization stage, students learn basic aircraft maneuvering, aerobatics, and landing skills foundational to the aircraft carrier environment. Numerous multi-aircraft flights provide requisite skills in two-plane, four-plane, and night formation flying. The second phase of flight training exposes students to manual air-to-ground bombing, Tactical Formation, Air Combat Maneuvering, and Operational Navigation at low altitude. Finally, students perform Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) in preparation for their Carrier Qualifications (CQ). In order to become "tailhookers" and earn their Wings of Gold, students must safely complete four touch-and-go's and ten arrested landings aboard a carrier at sea. McDonnell Douglas (BAe) T-45C Goshawk Designed to meet an RAF requirement for a fast trainer to replace the Folland Gnat, the BaE Hawk first flew on August 21, 1974. This tandem two-seat aircraft has a distinctive appearance, with the front seat positioned below the rear seat so that the instructor has a clear view of the student's cockpit. The Hawk is subsonic in level flight but can achieve Mach 1.15 in a dive, giving trainees the experience of supersonic flight. Hawks are expensive to produce but durable and maneuverable enough to be used for combat. The Hawk is in use in 18 different nations, and is still in production today.
