Description: Apollo pattern sterling silver "5 o'clock" teaspoon by Alvin manufacturing company. This pattern was produced starting in 1900. There is a stylized F, K, R, or some combination thereof on the upper side within the Apollo pattern. "1912" is engraved on the back. The underside throat of the spoon is impressed with the stylized "A" for Alvin together with "Sterling", and I believe "PATD" but I cannot read the latter clearly. A 5 o'clock spoon is reportedly a slightly smaller, more delicate spoon used with afternoon tea; apparently it would not do to use one's breakfast teaspoon later in the day. In very good antique condition but does have age appropriate signs of use. Weighs 9 or 10 grams depending on my scale's mood.
