Description: ANTIQUE WILLIAM BROWNFIELD 'ALLOA' BARREL SHAPED RELIEF MOLDED PITCHER/JUG c1866 Click images to enlarge Description A William Brownfield relief molded pitcher in the Alloa (Scotland) shape dating to c1866. In the mid 1860's Brownfield used place names for the different pitcher shapes. The pitcher is 7" tall and is formed as a barrel having molded staves, hoops and nails; there are six simulated nail heads on each of the four white hoops. The neck is decorated with hop vines which emanate from the handle along with barley husks. The pitcher is in very good condition with just a tiny nick on the top rim ( see photo 8). The base has the molded circle mark with the shape name Alloa, W.B (William Brownfield), Cobridge (Staffordshire) & size number 18. Within the circle is the registration diamond for April 20th 1866.
