Description: This is a cutlery carving set made by Wade, Wingfield & Robowtham of Sheffield, England. It consists of a carving knife, a fork, and a sharpening steel. Each item has a handle we believe to be ivory with silver proof marks on the metal between the handle and blade. They are in the original silk lined, walnut with maple inlaid case which has a metal cartouche on the lid. The photos provide a good description. The case measures 18 inches long by 5.75 inches wide. The knife is 15.5 inches long, the fork is 11 inches, and the sharpening steel is 13.25 inches. The case with the full Set inside weighs 3 pounds, 1 ounce. The Set shows some wear and tear from years of use but is actually in excellent condition for its age. The company that made the set was originally founded in 1787 by John Robowtham. Our antiques expert places it being made around 1850 but the Company produced very fine knives for well over 100 years. It is possible to find information about the Company and we will include a copy of one of the articles we found that will help a new owner research the history the Set comes with. We were not able to find an identical set so pricing is a guess and we invite your inspection and offer. We can ship it inexpensively within the U.S. and accept returns within 30 days for any reason.
