Description: Barbour's Irish Flax Linen Thread Cardboard Box Measures approx. 9 1/4” x 3 7/8” x 2 1/4” Condition: Good Condition: All the box and lid seams are in tact. There is some wear along the edges of the lid and the box, but not much considering its age. The worst damage is on the top left corner of the lid. The inner paper insert is in very good condition. There are some ink blots and pen scribbles on the inside bottom of the box. On one outside length of the lid there are some faint dark spots that look like they may have been from ink splatter. I have tried to highlight all these blemishes in the pictures The exact age is unknown, but it probably dates from the 1920’s or 1930’s given the history of other items found with it. This box was manufactured in the Irish mill, not the American mill. It was definitely made after 1921 since it is labeled “Lisburn, Northern Ireland”, and the name Northern Ireland came into being in 1921. Note that the design on the lid is quite different than most other similar boxes in the marketplace. It does not display the 4 or 6 gold medals won by the company in the 19th Century, and it shows Lisburn, Northern Ireland, in two different places. Instead of the gold medals there are two flax plants. I ship free within the USA on the same day as receiving payment, using recycled packaging materials whenever possible.
