Description: Gorgeous antique/ vintage Apollo Studios ladies' 3-piece vanity set in the Hollywood Regency style, I'm guessing from the 1920s-30s. The 3 pieces are a hairbrush, hand mirror and lined vanity/ dresser box. They all have an elaborate repousse ormolu decoration with florals and scrolls, beaded edges and filigree handles and are in excellent condition for their age with nice patina, very little wear to the plating, and all metal sturdy and intact. My camera makes everything looks yellower than it is, so the actual color is closer to brass or bronze than to gold as it appears in some of the photos. The specifics: --Hairbrush measures 11" long, 3 1/2" wide, 1 1/4" tall on its back. The bristles are synthetic and there is a little bit of hair in it. --Mirror measures 15 1/2" long, 5" wide, 1" tall on its back. The mirror itself is in great shape, has a couple of scuffs and tiny white dots in the reflective surface. --Vanity box is oval-shaped, 6 1/4" wide, 4 1/4" deep, 2 1/2" tall on its 4 little feet. This is the only piece that is marked "Apollo" on the bottom. The hinge works great and the inside is a dark red velvet that is in great shape, with no tears or stains. The only thing additional I would say about this is that there is 100 years of darkening in all the repousse, so you could clean it if you want to make it appear more gold, as it probably looked initially. But I love the darkened look which I feel highlights the intricate details. In any case, this is an exquisite set in outstanding condition that any collector would love!
