The sides of this basket are embellished with pierced fluted decoration. The rim of the basket is ornamented with a fine embossed opposing scroll and leaf decorated border accented with a shell motif to each corner. This antique silver basket is fitted with a fine hallmarked, chased and pierced decorated swing handle embellished with opposing scroll and leaf decoration accented with three floral motifs. The well of this ViCtorian basket is plain and unembellished. This impressive basket retains its original gilt interior. Condition This antique sterling silver basket is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. The engraved decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the basket and part hallmarks struck to the handle are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique silver basket.
