Description: Unusual silver-plated Pinwheel design Victorian era chatelaine notepad with hook and clasp to be worn as a necklace. Has the original celluloid notepads inside. From an estate that had eclectic taste running in the family for generations. Almost looks like its from the psychedelic era of the 1960's, yet it dates from the 1900's. Well made, heavy silver plate with the number 0130 engraved on the clasp. Measures approx. 1 7/8 inches in diameter. Weighs 29.2 grams. Slides open like a fan to find a few original Victorian notations still remaining, written in pencil 100 years ago. Very unusual piece that could be worn by a woman or man. There was no chain with the chatelaine...and it has not been cleaned in many years as it remained in an old attic storage unit. It is heavily tarnished, but has no deterioration to the design which remains crisp and eye catching. I am not cleaning it or polishing it with anything. I did wipe if off with a very soft tissue...because...well... it has been stored in a metal storage locker in an attic that was pretty dusty. Will let the new owner decide whether to clean it or leave it unpolished. Neat old beauty for sure.
