Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN NORTHWOOD VASELINE CASED OPAL LEAF UMBRELLA TOOTHPICK HOLDER A beautiful piece of early American made pattern glass (EAPG) in the form of a lovely little cased glass toothpick holder. It is a quality piece of blown glass and was made by the Northwood Glass Company, formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio; Elwood City & Indiana, Pennsylvania; and Wheeling, West Virginia. It is made in a Vaseline or canary colored glass that is cased (layered) over top of an opal (milk) colored glass layer and it glows a lemon-yellow color under a blacklight. The piece in my photos is the actual item you will receive. This piece has been part of my personal toothpick holder collection since 2015. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” & “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below. Also, please read about our multiple purchase discount under the “PAYMENT, SHIPPING, Insurance & PACKAGING” paragraph below. This pattern is pictured and described on page 161 of the 2005 book Glass Toothpick Holders: Second Edition by Neila & Tom Bredehoft and Jo & Bob Sanford. If you are not familiar with the NTHCS (National Toothpick Holder Collectors’ Society) it is a great organization and you can learn more about toothpick holders and collecting them at their website.I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer. Please take a moment and visit our eBay store “TNK Antiques.” You can access our store through a link in any of our eBay listings. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables.Age and ConditionThis piece dates to circa 1891. It is in excellent to mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. In looking it over closely, I see no chips, no flea bites, cracks, hairlines, or repairs to the glass – see my photos. Really in remarkably good condition for a 130-year-old piece of glass. I will also mention a small rough place near the base on the exterior; this is a factory flaw that was created during the making of the glass and is not any form of damage. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.Approximate DimensionsAbout 2.25” (5.7 cm) across at the widest point of the body and sits about 2.375” (6 cm) off the table. Approximate WeightAbout 3.625 ounces (103 grams).
