Nice antique Victorian sterling silver button hook tool. Victorian fashion has lots of small buttons on garments and boots that required use of these button hooks as an aid in dressing. This one is in really good shape. It's marked Sterling and has a maker's mark. I can not read the mark as it's not a deep impression. It looks like a "W and C" intertwined in a diamond. The pattern is nice. It has a dimpled texture on the handle to give it a good grip. The area on the front is not monogrammed. The rest features scrolls and flowers. The handle is sterling; the hook and rod is most likely steel as to help prevent wear on the softer sterling. It has a little bit of light surface rust, but not bad. The hook is solid and is not loose, but there is a piece that rattles inside the hollow handle (see video and turn up your sound). There might be a couple of small dents on the handle, but they are well hidden in the texture. It weighs just over an ounce (please know that includes the steel part of the hook in the weight). Still a nice vintage antique piece that would look good on a dressing table or other display. This qualifies for $6 flat shipping.
