Antique US Indian Wars 1876 Centennial Dress Parade Uniform Jacket 71st NY IDd

Description: This is for an Original Indian Wars New York 71st Regiment National Guard Uniform Grouping. It includes the coat, pants, epaulettes, brass buckle and two piece white sash or belt. The jacket also retains the original 45 brass buttons. The epaulettes also retain their original brass buttons. There are a total of 47 buttons. I believe the buckle may be a chest plate. The maker is “The American Uniform Company of New York”. The inside of the jacket is identified to: D. Leighton Co. G 71 Ret. N.Y. Lit ? Inf. The condition is overall excellent Museum Quality. There isn’t any major wear to note. A few of the buttons on the backside of the coat have some very minimal indentations. The sleeve buttons have minor indentations. The coat shows some minor wear on the inside of the collar. There is some other very other minimal wear on the coat. The white lines on the pants show some very minimal wear. The white areas are slightly and naturally discolored from age. One of the epaulettes is missing the hook that attaches it to the shoulder. It has a safety pin underneath instead that goes unseen. There is also a loop on each shoulder that holds the epaulettes on as well. All is intact. The white sash is two pieces. The buckle measures 2 1/2 by 3 3/8 inches. The uniform is on the smaller side which is typical of the time period. The coat measures about 33 inches from the collar to the tail on the back. From shoulder to shoulder it is about 18 inches. From armpit to sleeve cuff is about 18 inches. The pants measure about 32 inches from the crotch to the end of the pants. The total length of the pants is 42 inches.
