Description: This Masonic book is a one of a kind, for it was specially bound in leather & the front cover has an embedded name label of the Lodge. "HUDSON LODGE. NO. 7". The Freemason's monitor: containing a delineation of the fundamental principles of freemasonry, operative and speculative, as well in a religious as a moral view with explanations and plates ... and order of priesthood; compiled and arranged from the most approved writers, with additions, notes and remarks; also, charges and songs. By Z.A. Davis. Philadelphia: Desilver & Muir. 1843. 1st edition. 312 pp. Leather boards. This old book is a rare, unique piece of both NY & Masonic history, and I believe it is in pretty good condition for its age. Of-course there is age- appropriate wear that includes but may not be limited to scuffs and indentions to leather, a section of upper front cover with old moisture stain, rubbed board edges and corners, frayed upper spine, cracking to hinges, foxing and various moderate staining throughout, including moisture staining to edges of front end-pages. There is heavier staining to the last 50 pages or so with moisture stain to the upper and lower seam area of pages. The front free page is missing its bottom half and has an extremely faint pencil writing to the top which i cannot make out. Also, there is an ink name tag of masonic scholar "William L. Cummings". The symbol frontis. has some creases to its face and the portrait frontis tissue guard has been torn out., the top title has hand ink writing "Hudson Lodge #7". There are a few rough/ chipped page edges, rear free page has torn lower corner. Various other imperfections. 312 pp. Enjoy "AS-IS". Will require signature. Please see pics. I strive to describe the item accurately and provide photos to help convey the condition. If you purchase the item and it is not what you expected, please let me know and I will do my best to resolve the issue. Thanks for your interest in this item!
