Description: A 19th century stamped English Staunton chess set with case and chessboard.The pieces turned with hand carved knights, cloth felting, boxwood shows toffee color patina, polished finish, lead weighted bases. The king is 2.5 inches high, a complete and original set (32) chess set in good condition, one black pawn with chip at collar and the boxwood queen with slight bend at top. One side is ebony wood and the other side boxwood. One knight and rook from each side stamped in red on top.Comes with the original mahogany lift top storage box. Together with an early English ‘roll up’ campaign chess board dated1860.The alternate squares in mahogany and sycamore, the reverse in linen allowing the board to roll.
