Description: This exotic cast iron ashtray has two cigarette rests and a lid which rotates via the snake / cobra topper to expose or cover two pie-shaped holes for the ashes. The embossed areas are painted with red and green paint, which can be easily stripped should there be a desire to repaint it. The bottom of the ashtray had a label saying "The Johola Co. Patented New Haven Conn." which washed off when it was cleaned. An example of this label can be seen in the last photo. This ashtray is identical to an ashtray sold by Alfred Dunhill in the early 20th century, but does not have the embossed Alfred Dunhill mark. An internet search will turn up several examples of that. The ashtray in these photos is the actual item for sale from this listing.
