Description: Wonderful antique Satsuma bowl - Meiji or Taisho period, depicting finely hand painted mountain landscapes with pagoda and river. Signed what looks to be Bizan. This is a stunning antique piece featuring intricate details and fine gilding, hand painted with serene landscapes on the interior and the exterior. The bowl is decorated all over with fine and highly detailed hand painted images. Measuring 6 1/4” wide in diameter and appx 2.5”H. The bowl is marked on the underside. The mark features Shimadzu family crest and to the best of my knowledge can be attributed to Bizan. Condition - I haven’t noticed any chips of cracks. Some wear to gold and decorations but not extensive. Use related marks and wear on the foot. Minor scabs on the foot. Typical for satsuma wares, very fine crazing and fine faint crazing lines . It’s is a wonderful and fine example of Japanese ceramics of the late 19th and early 20th era.
