Description: WHAT YOU ARE BUYING/BIDDING ON #43207 Early 20th century Robinson Ransbottom stoneware farmhouse crock with cream colored glaze and three gallon capacity. Impressed USA on base. Blue crown logo. "In 1900, Frank Ransbottom and his brothers Ed, Johnnie, and Mort purchased the Oval Ware and Brick Company of Roseville, Ohio, and founded Ransbottom Brothers Pottery. By 1916 Ransbottom Pottery was the largest producer of stoneware jars in America. Around 1920, they merged with Robinson Clay Products Co. who created bricks and tiles. The name was changed to RRP Company (to reflect both initials). The combined company made art pottery, garden ware, and utilitarian household products. Some products were spongeware decorated. R.R.P. Co. introduced its Old Colony line in the mid-1930s, ceasing production in 1950. Rustic Ware was made from the mid-1930s through the 1960s. Pieces were decorated under the glaze. The products ranged from functional utilitarian pieces to pieces designed for decorative purposes. These lines were marketed under the Crown Pottery brand. The company was able to endure through the great depression and was in business until 2005."
