Description: Very old primitive ladder back chair; old paint. The seat looks to be hand woven with a unique design fashioned from some kind of fiber. I think the seat is original because it covers the original green paint. The chair is primitive in construction which means it is quite old. Constructed with square nails. It measures 32 inches from the floor; the seat is 14 inches deep and 15 1/2 inches wide. The seat is 13 inches from the floor. Old slatback chairs are low. Do not let the uninformed tell you these chairs have been cut off. Recall instead that the pre-victorian table was 26 inches high instead of the present 30 inch height. Slat-back chairs can be used at thirty-inch tables either by adding a two-inch button turning to each leg, pegged in and glued for permanence, or by placing cushions on the seats. The piece would be nice addition to farm house decor. Please review all photos as they constitute a part of the description. Contact me if you have questions. For local pick up or can be shipped.
