Description: A gorgeous rare MCM handmade and painted pottery vase by Polia Pillin in excellent condition. It's free of chips or cracks, has the normal crazing to the glaze as with all older Pillin pieces. It is signed at the base. This would be especially sweet as a wedding or anniversary gift. It is a family heirloom that I'm hoping someone will treasure. It is quite unique. More about the artist: Polia Pillin Art Pottery, Los Angeles, CA 1948-1992. Polia Pillin was born in Poland in 1909 and immigrated to the United States when she was 15. Studying painting and sculpture, she met her husband William Pillin. They moved to Los Angeles in 1948 where she opened her pottery studio. Her style is often referred to as “Byzantine” with women, horses, birds, fish as subjects and using jewel-toned colors that makes her pieces very recognizable.
