Description: This is a wonderful Antique Copper Persian Cooking Pail from the 19th century. It is 9 1/4" tall without the handle, 13 3/4" tall with the handle up, weighs about 4 1/2 lbs. It is 9 1/4" wide, just above the bottom and 8 3/8" wide at the top of the mounts for the handle. Completely decorated except the bottom, the middle has a band of standing animal spirit figures about 2" tall. The 9 1/4" wide, 1/2" thick, tapered copper handle has Dragon heads on the ends and is securely mounted on tapered mounts with 2 wide rivets welded on the outside. The middle has a diamond with hexagons and triangles on either side. It has eight bands of engraved decoration all the way around it, with a dovetailed bottom. Has a rolled over double lip for strength. It is in very good condition, with about half of the Nickel plating worn off the outside, the plating is completely intact on the inside. This is a fine example of Persian Copper Cookware, a beautiful shape that is superbly executed.
