Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Antique Original Framed Currier & Ives Lithograph – ‘Little Brother’ c1865 Being offered for your consideration is this original antique framed Currier & Ives hand colored lithograph of “LITTLE BROTHER.” which is what you read below his image. This is an antique lithograph and frame. The glass is wavy with many small bubbles as you would expect from period glass. It is also backed with a beveled piece of wood that is held in place with small square nails. There is a metal eyelet screwed into the center on top of the wood frame for hanging. The young boy is facing ahead with his proper right hand tucked into his jacket. His proper left hand is holding a riding crop. His deep rust red jacket is trimmed in yellow and a blue neck tie is neatly attached below his neck in front. Beautiful brown hair adorns his youthful face. He is surrounded by grape and rose clusters with foliage. The ground below where he stands is a bright yellow in color. Our example is not as common as the lithographs of “Little Brothers” “Little Sisters” or “Little Brother & Sister” that Currier & Ives also issued. Overall, the lithograph appears to be in fair to average condition with some minor issues (please read Condition description). This is a wonderful item for the collector antique Currier & Ives Lithographs and or Early Americana! Please Note: We will also be listing a framed Nathaniel Currier Lithograph separately. Measurements: The framed lithograph measures approximately 16.5” high x 12.5” wide x .75” deep. The lithograph appears to measure approximately 14” x 10”. The image size measures approximately 12.25” x 8.25” (includes the title information). The framed lithograph weighs approximately 2 lbs., 4 ounces. All measurements are approximate, but close. Condition: Please note that this lithograph was not examined outside of its frame by us. The painted wood frame is in good condition for its age. There are signs of aging, small nicks, scratches and stains which you should expect to see from years of use, handling and storage. The antique picture glass is in very good condition with bubbles and waviness throughout the surfaces. The lithograph has moisture stains confined mostly to around the outer borders; however we noted some moisture stains on the boy’s trousers around the knees. There are four small holes noted to the top right corner border and two near the lower left. The holes appear only on the borders and not the image.
