The Story of an African Farm was written originally under the pseudonym Ralph Iron, but this edition was published with the author’s actual name, giving full credit to Olive Schreiner. Believed to be one of the first feminist novels, it became a best seller, even though the topics of feminism, pregnancy out of wedlock, and free thought were a shock to the culture of the time. It follows three children as they progress to adulthood and the challenges and decisions they encounter along the way.
