Description: Gorgeous antique hand painted vase from the Nippon era of 1911-1921. Has the printed Morimura green "M" in wreath mark on the base. Primary color is rust orange and the central motif is a pastoral scene with houses, trees and a windmill in the background. The medallion on the opposite side is just the pastoral scene without the buildings. This scenic designs are surrounded by a gilt enameled border, and the rest of the vase contains white bands with elaborate gilt leaves and decorative enameling all over. There are 2 gilt geometric handles at the top as well. The piece measures 7 1/2" tall, 4 1/4"across from handle to handle, and 2 1/2" in diameter across the top and the base, with a slightly bulbous shape in between. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and no wear to the painting except for some rubbing of the gold on the handles and the top trim. The gold enamel beading on this vase is particularly lovely and this would make a stunning addition to a Nippon vase collection. I am listing a group of antique Nippon vases from a local collector this week, so please check out my other listings if you also collect these beautiful antiques!
