Description: Gorgeous antique hand painted vase from the Nippon era of 1911-1921. Has the printed Morimura green "M" in wreath mark on the base. Background color is pale green and the central motif is a large sailboat on a lake. This nautical design is surrounded by a gilt enameled border, and the rest of the vase contains painted pink and white dogwood flowers with green leaves and more elaborate gilt enameling all over. There are 2 gilt triangular handles at the top as well. The piece measures 10" tall and 2" in diameter across the top and the base, with a slightly bulbous shape in between. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and no wear to the painting except for some rubbing of the gold on the handles. There is an occasional freckle here and there which is normal for this type of porcelain. The painting on this vase is very realistic and this would make a stunning addition to a Nippon vase collection. I am listing a group of Morimura Nippon vases from a local collector this week, so please check out my other listings if you also collect these beautiful antiques!
