Description: I have for sale an antique Russian icon art It believe it is a 19th century work, made sometime in the late 1800's It shows virgin mother Mary holding baby Jesus, and four flowers on the corners It is made of hand cut, crafted silver and gold tone thin metal pieces. (tin?)They have dotted Repousse texture and highly detailed patterns meticulously hand hammered There are two areas of lettering. One on Jesus’s halo “E3?” Another under Jesus’s feet that looks like: KAAMMIPCKIA ПР.Б (not sure what it says...) The faces, hands, and feet are expertly hand painted with brush and oil. It may be tempera It is encased in a dovetailed joint, wood box case with glass front. (see photo# 5) The top bezel of the box is held by a wood spike nail. Once removed, the glass panel can slide out The glass is old uneven glass, with trapped air bubblesOn the back of the box is pencil signed initial: AD? Approximate dimensions are: 10.5" tall, 8.75" wide, and 2.25" deep It has a very unusual construction. It may be a folk art piece that is made by a skilled artisanI was not able to find another icon exactly like this Thanks for looking!
