Description: Antique Miller Falls Breast Drill No. 12(?) ModifiedThis drill is an example of an early talented craftsman making lemonade from lemons. The only clue about this drill is the 4” drive gear that is flat on the outside of the disk with no machined indents. It appears that the cast shaft was broken at the junction of the second speed sleeve and the craftsman created a finely crafted substitute to replace the broken part of the shaft. The workmanship on the fix is amazing from my perspective. The drill is 16” long with a 4” drive gear. The chuck is an alligator type stamped Miller Falls and tightens as designed but is a little sloppy when not securing a bit..There is a single pinion gear with some wear and a small chip on one of the teeth. The heel and handles are what appears to be domestic hardwood. The finish is mostly worn away but there is remnants of black lacquer on the shaft and red lacquer on the drive gear. The drill is disassembled for shipping.Condition and finishes are subjective and as such the pictures complete the description of this listing.I am not an expert in Miller Falls drills and I ask that you look carefully at the pictures to determine the correctness and completeness of the drill listed.PM me if you have additional questions.I extend every effort to describe the item(s) completely and accurately. This tool comes from a smoke and pet free home.Your satisfaction is guaranteed and important to me.Net weight = 3.78 lbs.
