Description: For sale is a superb porcelain plate made by Meissen around 1740 . This is the same style used for the St. Andrews Service and the Tsarina Elizabeth I of Russia Service. The plate is decorated with the Gotzkowski erhabene Blumen (raised flowers ) relief design to the paste around the well of the plate as well as to four sections of the rim with nice Woodcut style flowers in the center and in four areas along the rim. These early flowers look amazing and in my opinion are much nicer than the later Deutsche Blumen style flowers. Small flowers and leaves to hide some firing flaws - a common practice on early Meissen pieces! Gold trim to the edge. The flowers are top notch! The plate is in great condition with some wear to the high points and use marks to just the central floral arrangement as shown. A little wear to the gold trim along the edge and to the leaf along the rim. The plate displays superbly and is just stunning! The plate is 1.375 inches tall and 9.75 inches in diameter so a nice size for display. Marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords as well as an impressed number 20 as shown. Old museum IDs as well. 18th century German Germany If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces. Returns accepted if item is not as described.
