Description: This Vintage pair of J. N.M.. (J N MacDonald) Chain Repair Pliers was Patented on July 26, 1910 and Aug 3,1915. It is in Good Condition. The only markings forged on both sides are identical. They read "J.N.M. Pat July 26 10" Standing for 1910. And Aug-3-15. There are no previous owner's names or ID markings. The teeth are in Very Good Condition. According to Alloy Artifacts the first patent date corresponds to patent #965,722, filed by J.N. MacDonald in 1909 and issued in 1910. According to Alloy Artifacts "they are J.N. Macdonald chain repair pliers. In 1910, paved roads were few and far between, and tire chains were essential to navigate the much more common mud roads. The inventors 1910 patent letters state that This invention relates to an improved implement for repairing chains, such as the tire chains of automobiles and the like....and by the use of which links may be expanded and again closed as may be required."
