Here is an old X chair with recently upholstered leather sling seat and back rail. The chair measures 36 inches tall, 26 inches wide across the front, and 20 inches deep. I think the wood is mahogany, and it is beautifully inlaid on all the wood surfaces except the back. In the center cross sections of the X are fabulous carved rosettes, that even have simple carved backs. The curled arm ends are also adorned with the carved rosettes, both on the inside and the outside, and the arms are inlay decorated on top, inside and outside. It has condition issues,some of which appear to have been repaired, possibly at the same time is was upholstered. Note that 3 of the wood blocks that keep the X from scissoring are missing. There is a little bit of missing inlay on one of the curled harm ends and some general dents and nicks. The legs have cracks in them, that are repaired. I believe this chair dates to the late 1800s - early 1900s, and that it is originally from Italy, but I am not an expert. Winning bidder will receive the actual item pictured.
