Description: ATH#230983.08 Antique Hobbs Brockunier Ice Blue Hobnail Blown Glass Barber Bottle measuring 7 3/8" Tall There is a sliver of glass missing from the pontil area - unpolished - I do not know if it came from the glass studio like this or if the sliver came off later. See photos. THIS BOTTLE WAS PULLED TOO FAST FROM THE MOLD AND THERE ARE A NUMBER OF IMPERFECT HOB STUDS ONE LOOKS LIKE ONE-HALF CHIPPED AWAY - IT DIDN'T There is a fine strand of glass connecting two stud tips - one is tip bent over towards the other Now - how is it that this strand - being about 1/3" long and finer than fishing line - how is it that this strand has not been broken somewhere over the last 100 years?? My best guess - the prior owner adored these flaws as much as I have, and took great care to preserve the bottle in the same condition that it left the factory. (If the glass blower was paid piece work, this might not have passed muster, so he might have just taken it home instead of handing it over to the boss) Other hob studs are deformed, too. I love this piece. I recently have been selling off some of my old hobnail barber bottles - I've held this back until now not knowing if anyone else would appreciate these flaws the way I do (and the way the prior collector obviously did).
