Description: Up for sale is one of fifteen historical antique old Florida photographs that range from Tampa to Orlando to Jacksonville and more. What makes these images stand out from the majority is that most have hand written inscriptions which allow us a special insight into images that are generally free from any context. This image depicts a rare view of the Tarpon Springs hotel and Bayson circa 1885. Inscribed verso in ink reads "Tarpon Ave. Tarpon Springs, Fla. Looking towards the Bayson". The building to the right is the Bayson while the building to the left is the Tarpon Springs Hotel of which I have another image available depicting. Multiple figures can be seen leaning not only against the closet edge of the building but also along the second story railing looking towards the photographer. Verso is stamped "Continent Stereoscopic Co., New York". Mounted to board measuring 5 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches the photograph measures 4 3/8 x 7 3/8 inches. The condition of the photograph shows toning, foxing and slight surface imperfections but has faired extremely well considering it has always remained unframed.
