Description: Heintz Art Metal Shop (HAMS) was in business between the years of 1906-1929. During that 24 year period the company produced items that embodied the spirit of the Arts & Crafts movement, creating handcrafted pieces of quality that were both beautiful and useful. In 1912 they patented a process of bonding silver overlay onto bronze in a process known as sintering. This pair of bookends is an excellent example of HAMS's craft. The pair, which are impressed with the HAMS logo and patent mark, features a sinuous floral motif wrought in Sterling over a bronze base which has a lovely dark rich patina. The pieces are in very good antique condition. There is a small amount of patina loss to the top edge and bottom right side of one bookend, and the left top corner of the other has suffered some distress. Otherwise, they are remarkably well preserved for true antiques. These pieces would enhance any bookshelf and make a wonderful addition to your Heintz collection.
