Description: Antique HAVILAND & Co. Limoges "THE NORMA" 8" Oval Covered Vegetable Serving Bowl with Vine Finial. Measurements: The bowl measures 8-3/8" in Length x 6-1/2" Width at the top opening. The wider bottom of the bowl is 9-1/2" in Length x 7-7/8" Width. The bowl is 10-1/4" in Length at Handles and stands 2-1/2" in Height at the rim & 4-1/2" in Height with Lid. The lid itself is 9" in Length x 7-1/4" Width. Pattern Description: Haviland & Co., Schleiger Number 233, Scalloped, Pink & Yellow Flowers with Green Leaves, Gold Trim. Made in Limoges, France. Maker's Marks: The bowl has two maker's marks: First, there is a printed green underglaze 'Haviland' over 'France' with Haviland, not in all caps, slightly arched. This mark, designated as 'Mark I' by the Haviland Online website, is a Manufacturer's mark that dates to ca. 1894 until 1931. The second mark, printed over the first, is a red 'THE NORMA-Haviland & Co.-Limoges.' mark, with Haviland & Co. similarly arched. This mark, designated 'Mark h' was also used from ca. 1893 until 1931. Finally, there is a handwritten number in red, '10310'. This is the company's number designation for the Norma pattern. The lid is marked as well. See photos. Condition: Very good condition for this ninety year old set with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. The gold trim on the handles and finial shows moderate to heavy wear, with light wear elsewhere. See photos.
