Description: A gorgeous antique early 1900 hand painted silk fragment. Chinoiserie style peony flowers.A fragment from a larger antique silk textile. A fine silk from a high end English estate.A good portion of this textile was shattered and not strong enough to salvage but I did manage to save a few very nice pieces that are relatively stronger and usable on more artisan/creative type projects.I would still consider this somewhat fragile. So best utilized for it's visual appeal. Possibly framing or mixed media type projects. Things that won't be handled, more decorative. I feel the remaining silk is somewhat strong and the painting certainly helps strengthen it. A decorative pillow cover or stool cover may also be possible provided it's backed with a strong fabric, done carefully and again, decorative/displayed not used daily.So overall condition is aged with some old marks/patina which I feel adds tremendous old character/nuance to this special bespoke textile.
