Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This postcard is rare. I’m not sure if it’s the last or first in the series, “At the Carnival.” It looks like a town parade, either before or after the yearly carnival. Or maybe, this carnival never ends? As said before, this series combines the wonderful art of Leonard Linsdell, and the publisher, Raphael Tuck and sons. R. Tuck being the famous postcard publisher in England at the bottom of the last century. He was later named, publisher for the King and Queen of England. The at the “At the Carnival” series of postcards, all Oilettes, are now rare to find. I had an Oilette described to me as a piece of art, not dissimilar to an oil painting, only on a postcard. Unfortunately, much of Tuck’s beautiful art can only be seen in prints and of course on his postcards. During the night of December, 29th, 1940, London was heavily bombed by the German’s and Raphael Tucks housing complex was destroyed. He kept much of his artist contributions at his office/housing complex. Records of seventy-four years and 40,000 or more original pictures and photographs by the best artists were in ashes by the morning. In spite of having to start over, the company would recover and produce some of the most amazing postcard art during the golden heyday or postcards. I’m putting this card out there in time for the Halloween costume season. And what is the witching season without a good carnival, right? Card Specifics: This beauty will sell AS SEEN/NO RETURNS. To assist you in your assessment, I have attached clear photos, both front and back, and blown up some of the background characters. A few quite scary I might add. Please magnify the photos to review every detail. I will be sending this postcard via USPS, first class mail, ASAP! It will be enclosed in a durable, hard plastic protector, and placed in a heavy brown envelope. Sorry, I do not sell out of the USA. Should you have any questions about this postcard, feel free to contact me via eBay messaging. Thank you, Dan
