Description: Antique German Porcelain Spice Jars Blue Onion Pattern ca. 1870s-1880s- Lot Of 5. There are under glaze marks on the bottoms with a stamped number and several have an impressed “B”. These jars were glazed all over which required a tedious process and probable multiple firings to keep them from sticking in the kiln. Overall these jars are in very good Used antique porcelain condition. No chips or cracks or major faults noted. All Jars have some light brown underglaze staining on the bottoms along with some glaze crazing. One jar “Cloves” seems to have oils penetrating the glaze and shows a brownish coloration in the crazing. This jar still has a strong cloves smell. Ginger Jar shows some sots of yellow stains. All jars still have some odors from the stored spices. They were lightly cleaned by hand. These porcelain containers should not be soaked or subjected to extreme temperatures either hot or cold.
