In the foreground, a farmer leads his herd of cattle through a field enclosed by stone walls. Behind him we see the tower of a fortified castle rising above a village with a large lake or the sea in the background. It is marked “Souvenir du 15 août 1896” and signed with the initials of the artist. Framed and matted, this piece is in very good condition with the exception of a some very slight foxing on the paper and some minor chips and losses on the wooden frame.
