Description: This is a stunning quilted textile that is an antique French Beautrican toile. Amazing rare to find this complete of a repeat of this wonderful toile! ~*~ The front pastoral toile on this wonderful textile is called "L' Heuruse Famille ou Dits merci" ( the happy family known as Merci). This toile was printed by Jean-Pierre Meillier et Cie in Beautriran c1800 . It depicts scenes of happy family life in the late 1700's and was inspired by a painting by Jean-Babtiste Grueze ( 1725-1805). This textile is one of the most complete repeats I've ever seen of this amazing toile! An outstanding textile ~ this textile is constructed by hand stitching two widths of the wonderful toile together . It appears that the left panel is one complete width of the printing. This textile would have been used as part of a bed set and is backed in a finely woven homespun cotton. ~ this textile would make a beautiful wall hanging, bedding textile or ideal for any collection ~*~ ~ ( piece 2173) MEASUREMENTS : This textile measures: 50 inches wide by 54 inches long ~CONDITION ~ This textile is in as found condition, not freshly laundered with light storage dust. This textile is lightly quilted and the sides are all hand stitched closed. This textile has survived in remarkable condition! There are pale faded spots and uneven fading with time. There is a dime sized hole surrounded by rust located in the top section, near the middle ( please see photographs) . There are some tiny holes in places and some pale age marks. Generally in remarkable condition for its age~ a stunning piece of textile history ~ ~~~
