Description: Antique Framed Art - Young Boy or Child Portrait. This is an antique portrait of a young, somber, blonde boy. It is in an ornate oval frame, in matte gold, that measures about 10” x 12”. My mother picked this up at an estate sale in the early 80’s in Ohio, we have no idea who this boy is. The back is a heavy cardboard held in place by some small nails. A couple are missing and it was possible to slide the back off of the portrait. The portrait itself is mounted on rigid cardboard and I did not remove it from the frame. On the back of the portrait, there is a printed column in red ink. There is some pencil writing on the form. It is very slight and hard to read, but this is the best I could decipher: A penciled number at the top, possibly 991 Lot No. Artist No. - a penciled in 1745? W.C. or Pastel Gr - penciled in 147? Crayon Gr Ex. Head Bromide Size? Penciled in 8x10 Frame No. and penciled in 2448 The boy is wearing a dark, high necked shirt and a dark jacket with a wide collar. In my unprofessional opinion, I would guess this portrait to be late 1800’s to early 1900’s. I am assuming this is a colored photograph, but I’m not sure. The frame looks to be original. The back is rough but, the front is in relatively good condition. The glass is perfect but there appears to be some dust behind it. There is a picture wire that looks very aged but the grommets look newer. This comes from a nonsmoking home. If there are questions you have, I will try my best to answer. I ship ASAP after receiving payment. Thank you!
