Antique Fire Fighting Book NYC Fire Department Annual Report w/Map & Signed 1898

Antique, late 19th century book in overall very good condition. Book has signature of late 19th century NYC Fire Department Chief Clerk William P. Allen in ink on the front endpaper along with notation reading "corrections pages 14, 54 + 54" on the adjacent endpaper and also in ink. Book includes the large fold out map which measures approximately 35 5/8 x 19 1/8 inches unfolded. Map is in overall very good or better condition and is clean with some minor tearing near where it is tipped into the book as well as some tearing at crease folds. Map and book should be handled with much care as they are over a century and a quarter old. Exterior of the book itself is overall clean with some discoloration to the black cloth from age as well as rubs to the outer corner edges of the boards and upper and lower ends of the spine with gold gilded text to the spine and front cover still well intact with some darkening to the text on the front cover and also some discoloration spotting. Book is internally very clean with some minor toning to pages and the corrections mentioned in the notation on the front endpaper on the respective pages in ink. Book's binding is tight and well intact and the book is complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing. Book totals 363 pages, measures approximately 9 3/8 x 6 3/8 x 1 inches and weighs about 2 1/4 pounds.
