Description: Ethiopian Phenolic Resin Amber Beads set of six. This set of six beads is approximately 70 years old and is moderately old for this type of bead. You can see some wear and some burn marks on these beads that give them some charm. They are approximately slightly less than an inch long and approximately half an inch wide but some variance exists given that they were hand ground and drilled. See photos for variance. These beads are made of an old type of resin plastic, trademarked as bakelite. They were made in Germany originally and traded into West Africa as synthetic amber. These beads ended up in Ethiopia and are now themselves a collectible antique African trade bead. They have developed a lovely patina over the years. Weight is 19 g, listing is for these six beads. Note, variance in photo colors due to lighting (indoor versus outdoor photos, no filters have been used). If interested in more at a discounted price, please see other listings. Thank you!
