Description: Offered for your consideration is an Antique Vintage Ephemera Piece...an 1837 ME Sea Captain John McNear Legal Document...John Augustus McNear (1806-1875) was a Maine Sea Captain at the time this Stampless letter was written...This Captain McNear was the father of the perhaps more well known John Augustus McNear (1832-1918) who was born in Wiscasset, Maine...he followed in a long line of McNear Sea Captains and his early life was spent at the helm of multiple seafaring vessels sailing throughout the New England area as well as to multiple foreign ports...his later life found him in Petaluma, CA where he and his brother George became two of the most prominent businessmen and civic leaders in that city.
