Description: For your consideration a wonderful ANTIQUE EAPG FLINT GLASS FOOTED COVERED SUGAR. Pattern is "EXCELSIOR" made from 1850-60's by several manufactures, one was McKee Brothers, Pittsburgh, per Ruth Webb Lee. EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass). The pattern is known as "Excelsior." Flint glass was the earliest form of pressed glass and an early form of lead crystal. The glass is heavy and brilliant and has a clear bell tone when struck. This piece is in beautiful condition. No chips (only a flea bite on bottom, hardly noticeable with naked eye), nor cracks. Unfortunately acorn finial has been broken off sometime in its life, but has been nicely repaired and glued on. It is an older repair as glue mark has yellowed. It has all of the characteristic straw marks, bubbles and small scratches of a piece of this vintage which is pre civil war glass Dimensions: 4.75 inches in diameter and 8 3/4 inches to top of final.
