Dolphin Glass Compote~Vaseline~Canary Opal. ~Early 20th C. Northwood~National

Description: Vaseline glass compote (pedestal dish) Dolphin motif supporting a shell dish. Early 20th century. I throughly examined this specific piece and wrote the description with my own words. I bought it because it matched fine replicas of a famous glass pair of other items that I had once, so the motif was of interest of me but in this canary opalescent glass (the specific origin of the term "vaseline" glass, a term now used to describe any glass fluorescing under black uv light as it bears uranium oxide). The original pattern dates to c. 1905 by Northwood Glass and could have been made by National Glass after they bought Northwood along with Model Flint, etc. 5.5" tall Approx 6.5" diameter Weighs just over 14 oz. Used with 2 minor issues: >One is from manufacture: if you run your finger along the upper rim about 2.5 inches from the highest area and then a half inch into the dish you will feel a point bit. I believe it comes from a strand of glass that occurred during rhetorical stretching part of the process to flare the rim. The other end of the strand was closer to the rim with a tinier point too. I didn't notice this for a long time myself but trying to describe as best I can). See photo where I circled the highlight bouncing off the point in blue. Truly minimal but I don't want to ignore it. >The second issue is some surface inclusions that trapped tiny mineral deposits over time. This will be packed carefully for safe delivery using decades of experience.
