Description: Antique Conta & Boehme BISQUE Porcelain PIANO Baby Figurine GIRL holding a RATTLE Thuringia large "Piano baby" Porzellanmanufaktur Conta & Böhme Pößneck, c. 1900, unmarked, naturalistic moulding in bisque porcelain, painted in pastel shades and partially decorated with gold, sitting infant in a modelled lace-trimmed shirt with bow trim, open-closed mouth with row of teeth on top and strongly modelled curly short hairstyle, holding a rattle in her hand. Conta & Boehme exported large quantities to the British Isles, the United States and many other countries. The company was established in 1790 and operated until 1937. The production of fairings however ended at the outbreak of the First World War in 1914.
