The overall case size is 5 x 9 x 15.5". The camera was made between 1909 and 1918 exclusively for Sears & Roebuck from their plant located in Rochester, MN. This design was patented in March 13, 1907 and may have been sold under the Seneca name to Montgomery Ward before the exclusive contract with Sears in 1909. CAMERA BACKGROUND DETAIL: The Conley Long Focus Revolving Back camera , Model XV was manufactured by the Conley Camera Company of Rochester, Minnesota from approximately 1907 to 1918. This camera was designed for landscape and portraits requiring a long focal length. The camera was constructed of solid Honduras mahogany wood, dovetailed, rounded corners with hand rubbed piano finish. It was covered in genuine heavy bear grain black leather. The bellows were genuine leather, gossamer lined and extra long. All metal parts were made of brass with nickel plating and highly polished. The lens board is detachable. The lens provided was a Conley Rapid Orthographic and the shutter was a Conley Safety shutter with finger and pneumatic release. It utilized the Conley flexible valve plate holder, a reversible extra large brilliant view finder with nickel hood. The front had adjustable rising and falling front and side swing. This camera was available in five sizes, 4 x 5; 3 1/4 x 5 1/2; 4 1/2 x 6 1/2; 5 x 7; 6 1/2 x 8 1/2. The one in this auction is 5x7.
