The Sanxing are composed of the gods Lu, Shou, and Fu; mythological embodiments of Jupiter, Ursa Major, and Canopus. Lu represents prosperity, Shou (the focus of our teapot!) represents longevity, and Fu represents fortune. Statues and other representations of all three gods can be found in every facet of Chinese life.Stunning craftsmanship and attention to detail went into the creation of these Shouxing teapots, with every detail and stroke of the brush painstakingly made by hand. A fair number of these Sanxing teapots made their way over to the United States during the mid to late 20th century, with few surviving examples left in the wild.
