Description: I purchased this rare Chinese porcelain treasure in 1984 at the Antique Shop in the Beijing Hotel when I was posted at the American Embassy in China. I was enchanted by the strong vibrant burgandy color of the peonies and the somewhat unique pattern of the design--haven't seen another quite like it anywhere. The piece is marked by the artist on the bottom and also has the original tag with information on the work and price at the time, as well as the official red seal of authenticity issued back in those days. It's in very good antique condition, with only a slight "maobing" or imperfection at the base as shown in the photographs, adding character to the art. It stands about ten inches tall and measures four inches in diameter. I am listening to Barbra Streisand's memoirs now and am struck by how perfect this piece would be for her, given the strong burgundy color which she likes and hints of art deco, even though there are accents of royal blue, which apparently is not her favorite color. But she does relish life's dichotomies! If any of Barbra's "people" happen to see this listing, I would love to give it to her as a gift for all the gifts she has given me and to people around the world. In the meantime, anyone else interested please feel free to make an offer!
