This rare piece is finely carved in openwork with a “Chi” (hornless) dragon-head with bulging eyes, thick sinuous brows, a long upturned snout, bulging eyes and elegantly scrolling nostrils, up against a striding Chilong dragon crawling towards the dragon’s head. A circular stud / button knob is carved on the underside. The stone is rich in color, with variations in the intensity of the green hue. Exceptionally worked in high relief with a curved shaft. Jade is one of the oldest known gemstones and has a history that dates back to almost seven thousand years. Jade was the most precious gemstone in ancient China, and it served as a symbol of purity and moral integrity. Dimensions: 3-1/8" Long, 5/8" wide, 1-11/16" High.
